Back in June 2018, Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa launched its facelifted Figo, with the local range comprising five derivatives (three hatches and two sedans). Now the Blue Oval brand has added a new flagship Titanium hatchback to its line-up.

Priced at R215 900, the newcomer slots in at the summit of the now six-strong range and closes the gap to the base Fiesta (a Trend model that currently comes in at R269 900).

Like all other derivatives in the Figo line-up, the Titanium variant employs Ford’s new naturally aspirated 1,5-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine.

In the case of the Titanium, this three-pot sends its 88 kW and 150 N.m to the front axle via a five-speed manual gearbox (the six-speed automatic transmission is exclusively available on the five-door Trend hatch).

The Titanium model boasts Ford’s Sync3 system connected to a 6,5-inch colour touchscreen (with a reversing camera), complete with two USB ports plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality.

Ford’s so-called MyKey is included with the Titanium model, along with side- and curtain airbags (in addition to the dual front items standard across the range) for a total of six. The top-spec Figo furthermore has audio controls on its steering wheel, automatic climate control, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror and four-way adjustment for the driver’s seat.

The Titanium variant also gains 15-inch alloys, chrome accents for the front foglamp bezel and a chrome finish for the grille surround.
