With the popularity of compact SUVs and Crossovers currently on the rise, MG looks as though it’s set to join the fray with the unveiling of the CS concept at the Shanghai Motor Show later this month.

The MG CS concept was designed in-house at MG’s parent firm, SAIC Motor Corporation, and utilises a number of frontal cues from the current MG6, albeit with a more pronounced lower air dam and lights with inner elements that have been designed to look like shards of crystal.

The overall body shape has a hint of Range Rover Evoque about it, with a rising beltline, narrow side glazing and prominent wheel arches. This is an aspect that sits at odds with the production version’s projected retail price. It has been suggested that the China and European-bound CS will be priced below such strikingly styled crossovers as the Nissan Juke.

MG has not divulged any technical details, but it’s likely that the CS will be underpinned by the platform earmarked for the firm’s MG5 C-segment hatchback and could be powered by either a 1,5-litre turbopetrol developing 100 kW or the 1,8-litre turbopetrol currently doing service in the MG6.
