The new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe has been spotted at BMW’s Nurburgring technical centre and looks almost production ready.

This four-door coupé is based on the 3 Series. This Gran Coupe is set to offer the same coupé shape and supposed sportier driving experience as the two-door but will have increased rear space. It is out to attract Audi A5 Sportback customers.

The spied pictures show a longer and taller 4 Series Coupé with what appears to be a larger wheelbase, which is where the increased rear legroom comes from. BMW will likely utilise the engine line up of the existing car. The engines will be mated with a six-speed manual gearbox or an optional eight-speed paddleshift automatic transmission.

BMW South Africa would not confirm when we could expect to see this on our roads.
