Mazda has confirmed the new Mazda3 will be revealed at some point in November 2018, releasing a short teaser video giving us our first glimpse of the next-generation version of the hatchback.

It thus seems likely the fourth-generation Mazda3 will enjoy its debut at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show.

The 15-second teaser video (captioned: “A new era begins”) provides us with our first look at the hatch’s sloping roofline, slim wraparound taillamps and C-pillar treatment. The camera also runs along the new model’s flank, showing the door-mounted side-mirror and the chrome-trimmed exterior handles.

Back in October 2017, of course, the Japanese brand revealed its Kai concept at the Tokyo Motor Show, previewing this next-generation Mazda3 hatchback.

Like that five-door show car, the new Mazda3 is expected to be offered with the automaker's new Skyactiv-X engine, which is set to become the world’s first commercial petrol mill to use compression ignition.

No word yet on when the sedan body style is expected to debut…
