It was only a matter of time, wasn’t it? The folks over at Brabus have turned their attention to the Mercedes-AMG A35 (after earlier tuning the A250), handing Affalterbach’s junior hot hatch some added oomph.
Yes, the Bottrop-based tuner has managed to extract 257 kW and 460 N.m from Mercedes-Benz’s turbocharged 2,0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine (which in standard guise offers 225 kW and 400 N.m) using its plug-and-play PowerXtra B35 kit.
If that’s not enough, Brabus says it will boost the all-paw hatchback’s peak power to 268 kW by fitting the PowerXtra + B35 S package. The result of the latter is a sprint from zero to 100 km/h in a claimed 4,4 seconds (some three-tenths quicker than stock).
The German firm furthermore offers a stainless sport exhaust system that “maximises power delivery” and delivers a “fascinating acoustic spectrum from decidedly subtle to thrillingly sporty”. The muffler can be combined with the stock tailpipes of the A35 or with four optionally available stainless/carbon tailpipe tips.
Brabus also has some choice bits and pieces available for the cabin – such aluminium paddle shifters (to manually control the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission), stainless scuff plates, alloy pedals and branded velour mats – as well as an “aerodynamic enhancement product range” (the latter includes a two-piece front spoiler and a cheeky rear wing).
In addition, Brabus Monoblock alloys are offered, pictured here in gloss black and wrapped in Pirelli P Zero rubber (size 235/35 ZR 19).
