Great Wall Motors recently revealed the first image of a new double-cab bakkie that’s expected to replace the Steed. And now the Chinese automaker has released a shot of the upcoming bakkie’s interior.

According to CarAdvice, the cabin depicted in the image above comes from the “Urban” derivative (rather than the “Adventure” variant pictured below).

As the Australian publication points out, the new bakkie’s interior boasts quilted leather (for the seats and door panels) complete with contrast stitching, as well as what appears to be leather atop the facia. The steering wheel, meanwhile, takes on a four-spoke design and looks to be heated, if the button alongside the gear-lever is anything to go by.

You’ll also notice what appears to be the brand’s 9,0-inch touchscreen integrated into the centre of the dash, sited above a set of physical buttons, with air-vents on either side. From what we can see, this derivative boasts items such as heated seats and hill-descent control, along with an electronic parking brake, a handful of driving modes and push-button start.

The CarAdvice report claims the new bakkie will gain an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission (complete with a low-range setting), likely linked to a 2,0-litre, four-cylinder turbodiesel offering somewhere in the region of 140 kW and 450 N.m.

Expected to make its debut at the Shanghai motor show, the fresh-faced bakkie from GWM will likely ride on a ladder-frame chassis set to be shared with the next-generation Haval H9.
