The new Ferrari Portofino ? which replaces the California T as the entry-point to the Maranello-based brand?s local range ? has officially launched in South Africa.

The price? Well, this drop-top will start at R4 543 000?

Its turbocharged 3,9-litre V8 (mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission) is worth 441 kW at 7 500 r/min and 760 N.m between 3 000 and 5 250 r/min, completing the sprint from zero to 100 km/h in a claimed 3,5 seconds (and hitting 200 km/h in a claimed 10,8 seconds). Top speed is in excess of 320 km/h.

Revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2017, the new Portofino features an all-new chassis boasting ?a significant weight saving? over the California T it replaces. A set of 20-inch alloys (shod in 245/35 ZR20 rubber up front and 285/35 ZR20 tyres at the rear) are standard, along with carbon-ceramic brakes.

Inside, you?ll find a 10,2-inch touchscreen, a new air-conditioning system, a redesigned steering wheel, 18-way electrically adjustable seats and Ferrari?s nifty passenger display. There?s also a new wind deflector that Ferrari says cuts air-flow into the cabin by 30% and also reduces aerodynamic noise.

?We are thrilled to introduce our latest addition to the Prancing Horse family in South Africa. The Portofino is a benchmark in its segment and surpasses all expectations of a V8 grand tourer. We believe this exceptionally versatile drop-top embodies the perfect combination of design excellence, supreme performance and unmatched technology,? said Mervyn Eagles, CEO of Scuderia South Africa.
