Honda has revealed its second-generation Brio Amaze sedan at the Auto Expo 2018 in India.

Interestingly, the Japanese automaker has opted to kick off this second generation of its A-segment contender with the fresh-faced Amaze sedan rather than a new version of the Brio hatchback.

Honda says the Brio Amaze sedan runs on an “all-new platform”, claiming the sedan boasts a “spacious interior” and “a more efficient powertrain”.

The brand has not revealed any other information about engine options (or images of the new cabin), but it seems likely the naturally aspirated 1,2-litre four-cylinder petrol mill will carry over, albeit with a few tweaks for efficiency.

The new Brio Amaze appears to draw some styling inspiration from the likes of the latest Civic and BR-V, mimicking its larger siblings' chrome-heavy facia. Round back, though, the new model does away the first-generation's chrome trim in favour of a simpler, cleaner look, with the taillamps now extending into the bootlid.

Honda says the new Brio Amaze was developed in Thailand. No word yet on plans to bring the new version of the sedan to South Africa.
