Hyundai has released two teaser sketches of its new i20 hatchback, claiming the third-genreation model will feature a “completely new design” sportier than that of its forebears.

The all-new i20 is scheduled to be revealed at the Geneva International Motor Show in early March 2020.

The Korean firm says the new i20 will be the first Hyundai in Europe to carry the brand’s latest design language, which it dubs “sensuous sportiness”.

Hyundai says the purpose of this latest design direction is to bring “instinctive beauty to Hyundai vehicles, creating emotional value and giving them a distinctive look”.

Judging by the sketches, the new i20 hatchback will feature a fresh interpretation of the firm’s signature cascading grille as well as new lighting signatures, front and rear. The taillamps are horizontally arranged with the two units connected by the rear glass.

Although Hyundai hasn’t yet revealed the cabin, it says the facia is characterised by "horizontal blades" that emphasise the width of the dashboard and neatly disguise the air vents. The i20’s cabin will furthermore feature a new digital instrument cluster and a centrally sited display (each measuring 10,25 inches).
