With the recent reveal of the new Mercedes-AMG GLE Coupé, it seems Bavarian tuner G-Power wanted to give the outgoing GLE63 S Coupé a fitting farewell. Yes, the firm has handed the performance SUV subtle cosmetic updates and (naturally) more power, dubbing the result the “Raging Bull”.

Affalterbach’s 5,5-litre twin-turbo V8 engine has been tweaked to send a whopping 588 kW and 1 100 N.m to both axles via a seven-speed transmission. According to the Brünsbuttel-based company, achieving this was no easy task, and various mechanical upgrades had to be made to increase the standard M157 mill’s 430 kW and 760 N.m (the latter available from 1 750 r/min).

Modifications include G-Power’s V3 performance software, uprated turbochargers, a stainless-steel sports exhaust system and revised downpipes. Furthermore, the tuner says it removed the V-max limit, “so that the driver can fully exploit the new potential” of the modified AMG GLE 63 S Coupé.

Exterior upgrades are subtle, with the most notable items being the 23-inch Hurricane RR alloys, which the firm claims are “among the lightest in their class”. Forged from “high-tech aircraft aluminium”, the jet-black wheels are wrapped in high-performance rubber, size 315/25 all round. At the rear, the previous-generation GLE63 S Coupé has been fitted with a spoiler.
