Suzuki Auto South Africa has expanded its seven-seater Ertiga range, adding a pair of GLX-badged flagship variants.

The new derivatives slot in above the existing GA and GL trim levels, taking the total number of variants in the local line-up to five.

The Ertiga 1,5 GLX will cost you R267 900 in five-speed manual guise and R282 900 when specified with a four-speed automatic transmission.

GLX models gain a chrome-effect finish for the exterior door handles, a chrome strip on the tailgate and a reversing camera. A set of 15-inch alloy wheels is also included, replacing the steelies (and hubcaps) employed by the GA and GL variants.

Other GLX-specific items include mud flaps (fore and aft), front foglamps and an additional LED strip in the taillamps. Inside, you’ll find new wood-grain trim, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, automatic climate control and a centre console box that doubles as an armrest. The Japanese firm’s seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system (with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto) has also been added, along with a fresh 4,2-inch colour display in the instrument cluster.

As with the other variants in the range, the GLX model is powered by Suzuki’s naturally aspirated 1,5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, which sends 77 kW and 138 N.m to the front wheels via the chosen gearbox.

Suzuki says the new variants each feature a four-year/60 000 km service plan and a five-year/200 000 km “promotional” warranty.
