Land Rover South Africa says it is offering 50 examples of a new “value-packed” version of its three-row Discovery, each powered by a fresh entry-level engine.

Pricing for the new variant starts at R1 240 700, with power coming from the brand's 2,0-litre SD4 turbodiesel engine (here offering peak outputs of 177 kW and 430 N.m) mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Land Rover says the newcomer will hit 100 km/h from standstill in 8,7 seconds and return an average fuel consumption of 6,4 L/100 km.

All 50 units (there’s a choice of Fuji White or Indus Silver exterior paint) are based on the Discovery SE package, which ships standard with items such as LED headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, a ten-speaker sound system, terrain response, leather seats and the British firm’s “InControl Touch Navigation” system with Apple CarPlay.

In addition, however, the special model gains a sunroof, powered inner tailgate, roof rails and keyless entry. Inside, you’ll find a centre console cooler, ebony headlining and USB ports for second-row occupants.
