Land Rover has revealed its new Range Rover SV Coupé, a fresh limited-edition two-door SUV, at the Geneva International Motor Show.

Conceived by Land Rover Design and Special Vehicle Operations, no more than 999 examples of the new SV Coupé will be built, each hand-crafted by the British brand’s SVO division in Warwickshire. Land Rover SA says an "extremely limited number" will be headed to local shores.

The new SV Coupé (which measures 5 013 mm long) pays tribute to the original two-door Range Rover, which debuted nearly 50 years ago. But this model is also the fastest-ever full-size Range Rover, with a 266 km/h top speed.

Powered by a 416 kW/700 N.m version of the familiar 5,0-litre supercharged V8 petrol engine (mated to an eight-speed ZF-sourced automatic transmission), it’s also the most powerful unit ever used in a full-size Range Rover, resulting in a claimed 0-100 km/h time of just 5,3 seconds. Permanent four-wheel drive with a two-speed transfer box and an active locking rear differential will be standard.

Interestingly, with the exception of the bonnet and lower tailgate, Land Rover says all of the two-door SV Coupé’s aluminium exterior panels (and front and rear bumpers) are new. Eight body colours will be offered, in gloss or satin effects.

Inside the four-seater, you’ll find heated and cooled 20-way electrically adjustable front and 10-way electrically adjustable rear perches, each wrapped in semi-aniline leather. The InControl Touch Pro Duo infotainment system includes a 10-inch display, a 10-inch control panel and a 12-inch interactive driver display, while a 10-inch full-colour head-up display is also included.

Land Rover has lowered the SV Coupé’s ride height by 8 mm compared with the standard Range Rover, while alloy wheel sizes run from 21 to a whopping 23 inches.
