Canadian defence solutions company, Roshel, has recently unveiled the flagship model in its range of armoured personnel carriers, the Senator.

The Toronto-based company says it has utilised “innovative” lightweight materials to develop this vehicle, and ensures it will have the “highest level of performance and mobility”. Under the bonnet, this top-of-the-line APC is equipped with a 6,7-litre V8 diesel engine, producing 246 kW and 750 N.m of torque. Power is sent to all four 20-inch wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.

Like its stablemates, the Senator is fitted with a range of advanced defence solutions, such as engine bay armouring, military-grade suspension and brakes, mine blast protection seats, a thermal imager and .50 caliber-rated bullet resistant glass.

Roshel’s integrated CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear) system offers built-in air conditioning and filtration, and explosive gas and radiation detection. Remote control weapon systems, gun ports and night vision can be specified, too.

According to Roshel, the Senator has been “specifically designed and engineered” for military use, law enforcement and peacekeeping”. But if you ask nicely, the defence company can specify a civilian version of this hardcore 12 seater.
