Lamborghini has confirmed that it will not be attending the 2018 iteration of the Paris Motor Show in October, bringing the total number (so far) of significant absentees to nine.

The Italian automaker told CAR magazine UK that it had elected to skip the biennial show, after doing the same in 2016.

Earlier, the Volkswagen brand announced that it would give the French event a miss in 2018, saying that it “is continually reassessing the relevance of its participation in international car shows”. Other marques under the Volkswagen Group umbrella (such as Audi, Porsche, Seat and Skoda), however, will be in attendance.

In addition to Lamborghini and the VW brand, Ford, Infiniti, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Opel, Subaru and Volvo will all give the Paris event a miss.

Separately, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi have all confirmed that they will not attend the 2019 North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January.
