Peugeot has taken the wraps off its new e-Legend concept, a show car that looks both to the future and the past. Set to be make its public debut at the Paris Motor Show, the vehicle draws inspiration from the 504 Coupé that was unveiled some 50 years ago.

Despite its decidedly retro styling, the two-door e-Legend concept is actually an all-electric vehicle (like the funky Honda Urban EV concept unveiled in Frankfurt in 2017) boasting two-mode autonomous driving technology (complete with a retracting steering wheel and massive 49-inch entertainment screen) and two driver-centred settings.

Equipped with a 100 kWh battery pack and a pair of electric motors, Peugeot says the all-wheel-drive concept is worth 340 kW and 800 N.m. That’s enough, it adds, for a zero to 100 km/h sprint time of “less than 4,0 seconds” and a top speed of 220 km/h.

The French brand claims that the e-Legend concept boasts a range of 600 km (under the new WLTP regulations), with fast charging providing 500 km of range in just 25 minutes.

The show car measures 4 650 mm long, 1 930 mm wide and 1 370 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2 690 mm. It runs on 19-inch alloys wrapped in Michelin rubber.

“A modern, sharper coupé, this ultra-technological archetype of automotive pleasure finds its deep strength in the DNA of the Peugeot 504 Coupé. Peugeot e-Legend concept projects us in the near future without any nostalgia. It formalises our approach to a Peugeot design that addresses the new technological challenges of the automotive industry,” said Gilles Vidal, style director at the French brand.
