Now the new, third-generation Hyundai i20 has been revealed, thoughts have turned to the hot hatch version, with a digital artist having already rendered the rumoured i20 N.

X-Tomi Design created the single render you see above, handing the standard version of the hatchback a more aggressive front bumper, complete with larger air intakes and a red accent line along its lip.

The digital artist furthermore added “N” badging to the grille, repeating the logo on the upsized alloy wheels and large red brake callipers. Chunkier side skirts and what appears to be a fairly subtle rear spoiler have also been thrown into the mix.

Painted in a hue similar to the signature colour debuted by the i30 N, the rendered i20 N furthermore ditches the chrome strip that previously ran along the window line.

So, will the i20 N become a production reality? Well, plenty of spy shots of such a vehicle being tested have already been posted online, so the chances seem exceedingly strong. Expect power to come from a version of Hyundai’s turbocharged 1,6-litre petrol unit, with its peak output likely to roughly match that of the 147 kW Volkswagen Polo GTI...
