The driver of a Volkswagen Golf GTI has been arrested after reportedly being clocked at 220 km/h on the N1 in Limpopo.

According to the Limpopo department of transport, the 27-year-old male driver of the red seventh-generation Golf GTI was nabbed near Modimolle. The man was promptly arrested by officers and taken to the Modimolle police station.

Meanwhile, in Gauteng the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) says it arrested two speedsters near Boksburg.

According to the Boksburg Advertiser, an Audi A3 was caught at 157 km/h while a Toyota Fortuner was clocked at 158 km/h on a stretch of the R21 with a speed limit of 100 km/h.
