Toyota Hilux or Ford Ranger? These two favourites are still engaged in a brutal battle for the title of South Africa's best-selling bakkie. So, what happened with April's sales?

We’ve already reported that new vehicle sales in South Africa fell some 9,2% to 40 390 units in April 2016.

And we’ve also taken a look at the individual figures released by the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (Naamsa), picking out the ten best-selling passenger vehicles for the month.

Now, we’re turning our attention to the light commercial segment, and have identified the ten best-selling bakkies of April 2016.

The new Toyota Hilux seems to have pulled away from the Ford Ranger at the top of the pile, while the Isuzu KB looks to have made third place its own of late.

The Chevrolet Utility slots in at number four, with the Nissan NP300 claiming a fairly lofty fifth position. The Nissan NP200, meanwhile, drops down to sixth, with the Volkswagen Amarok grabbing seventh spot.

The Toyota Land Cruiser Pick-Up series, Mazda BT-50, and Mahindra Bolero close out the table.
