Despite being revealed back in early 2016, the Audi R8 Spyder has only just arrived in South Africa (see pricing here). And now the Ingolstadt automaker has confirmed that the R8 Spyder V10 Plus will complete the line-up (although no word yet on whether this range-topper is destined for SA).

Billed as the fastest series-production convertible model from the brand, the V10 Plus model shares its 449 kW (52 kW over the standard V10 Spyder) 5,2-litre mid-engine with the flagship coupé model, sending drive to all four corners via a seven-speed S tronic transmission.

At a claimed 3,3 seconds, it's three-tenths faster to 100 km/h than the standard V10 Spyder, and tops out at 328 km/h (up 10 km/h).

The German brand says it features "many components made from carbon-fibre-reinforced polymer", as well as an exclusive "micrommata green" paint finish.

Audi says orders are now being accepted for the Audi R8 Spyder V10 Plus, with the base price in Germany coming in at €207 500 (the equivalent of about R2,97-million).
