Euro NCAP has published safety ratings for eight new vehicles and one updated one, with all but one scoring a full five stars.

We’ve already had a closer look at the results of the assessment of the new Mercedes-Benz X-Class bakkie, so let’s now turn our attention to the others.

The new BMW X3, Porsche Cayenne, Jaguar E-Pace, Subaru XV, Subaru Impreza and DS7 Crossback (plus the X-Class mentioned above) each achieved a five-star rating. An updated version of the Honda Civic also managed to improve to five stars, while the all-electric Citroën e-Mehari had to settle for three stars, with Euro NCAP saying that it was “held back by a lack of driver assistance” technology.

The third-generation X3 scored 93% for adult occupancy protection, 84% for child occupant safety, 70% for pedestrian safety and 58% for its safety assistance features. The Cayenne, meanwhile, managed 95%, 80%, 73% and 62% in the same categories, respectively.
