Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that its new, four-door Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé will debut in production form at the Geneva International Motor Show in March, releasing a few images of the newcomer undergoing final testing in the process.
The images show the new four-door member of the GT family wearing heavy camouflage, although we already know that the production version will share many of its styling cues with the GT Concept revealed a year ago (also at Geneva).
Despite featuring the word “coupé” in its name, the new model is actually a four-door sedan, albeit one with a dramatically sloping roofline and rather a shapely rear. Affalterbach has also made it clear that a CLS63 derivative is not on the cards, with this new GT Coupé essentially taking its place.
It thus seems highly likely that Mercedes-AMG will employ its twin-turbo, 4,0-litre V8 in the new GT Coupé, tuned to deliver somewhere in the region of 450 kW, while reports also suggest that a more powerful hybrid version (the concept used an electric motor, after all) will eventually top the range.
