Kia has released a fresh teaser sketch of its next-generation Ceed hatchback ahead of the new model's official public debut at 2018 Geneva Motor Show.

The Korean automaker says that the third generation of the five-door hatchback version is due to be unveiled in Geneva "alongside a second member of the Ceed family".

The brand promises that the third-generation Ceed will feature "innovative new technologies and engines, a mature and athletic new design, and a more engaging drive".

Penned at the brand's European design centre in Frankfurt, Kia says the new Ceed's fresh look was "inspired by the fastback styling of the Stinger".

Interestingly, Kia says it has also revised the model's name, which changes from the stylised "cee'd" to the more conventional "Ceed".

So, will we see this new Ceed in South Africa? Well, Kia Motors SA tells us that while the broader details (and likely specifically timing) remain "unresolved" at this point, it does indeed still have plans to add the Ceed to its local line-up.
