The new Citroën C3 hatchback has been revealed, drawing plenty of styling inspiration from the quirky C4 Cactus.

That means it comes complete with the French brand's panel-protecting Airbump technology, some black plastic cladding, as well as what is fast becoming the automaker's daytime running light signature. The tail-lights, too, resemble those fitted to the C4 Cactus.

The C3 now measures 3,99 metres long, with a claimed boot capacity of around 300 litres. Expect the third-generation C3 to be available in a number of colour combinations.

Inside, the new five-door C3 again appears to have taken inspiration from the C4 Cactus, sporting rather few buttons and a console-mounted seven-inch touchscreen.

Interestingly, the newcomer will also feature something Citroën calls "ConnectedCam", a forward-facing GPS-enabled camera positioned on the rear-view mirror that effectively functions as a dash-cam.

Engine options will include the brand's existing 1,2-litre three-cylinder mills in various states of tune, as well as the familiar 1,6-litre diesel powerplants. A manual gearbox will come standard, with a six-speed automatic set to follow later.

Unfortunately, Citroën South Africa says there are "no plans" to bring this model to local shores.
