Last month, we revealed pricing for the new Volkswagen Tiguan 2,0 TDI 4Motion Highline, the flagship in the brand's local Tiguan range.

And now the local arm of the Wolfsburg automaker has officially launched its expanded, seven-strong line-up.

New engines include the 2,0 TDI, offered in either 81 kW/280 N.m or 130 kW/380 N.m form, as well as the 2,0 TSI petrol engine (yes, that's the same unit used in the outgoing Golf GTI), which makes 162 kW/350 N.m. The high-powered engines – the 105 kW/340 N.m 2,0 TDI, the 130 kW 2,0 TDI and the 162 kW 2,0 TSI – all come with VW's 4Motion all-wheel-drive system as standard.

These 4Motion models also each boast 10 mm extra ground clearance (201 mm rather than the 191 mm of the front-wheel-drive models). In addition, the Tiguan can be ordered with an "off-road package" that includes a specific front end improving the approach angle from 18,3 degrees to 25,6 degrees. All models feature a departure angle of 24,7 degrees and ramp angle of 20 degrees.

Optional extras include a panoramic sunroof, an electrically detachable towbar, an LED headlamps package, a head-up display, parallel parking assistance, active info display, adaptive cruise control, the popular R-Line exterior package and more.

Last year, Volkswagen SA confirmed to us that it has no plans to add the 176 kW bi-turbo diesel model (dubbed the BiTDI) to its local line-up.

All models come with a three-year or 120 000 km warranty and a five-year or 90 000 km service plan (with intervals of 15 000 km).
