Volkswagen has revealed the latest version of its Golf GTI TCR, giving the racer an aerodynamically updated body and, of course, yet more power.

The VW Golf GTI TCR is based on the road-going Golf GTI and is aimed at professional teams and drivers battling for race wins and championships at racetracks in rapidly growing TCR series around the world.

The latest version of the 2,0-litre turbocharged unit under the 2017 Golf GTI TCR's bonnet generates "up to" 260 kW, while VW says it has also "improved the control" of the sequential gearbox and updated the electric power steering, too.

Body modifications include new fenders, a new profile and redesigned vents to improve the aerodynamic efficiency of the five-door hatchback.
