Hyundai has officially introduced its new N Line trim in Europe, applying the sporty treatment to its i30 hatchback.

The Korean automaker says the new package includes “exterior and interior design elements” borrowed from the i30 N hot hatch (similar, then, to Volkswagen offering R-Line packages for its lesser models).

That said, the N Line pack includes mechanical updates – to the suspension and brakes – as well as what Hyundai calls improved engine response. Michelin Performance tyres have also been fitted (along with the larger brakes).

The design upgrades include new front and rear bumpers (accented for N Line models with a silver line), 18-inch alloy wheels and a twin-pipe arrangement at the rear. “N Line” badging has furthermore been applied to the front wings. Inside, you’ll find N-branded suede sport seats, a sport steering wheel (trimmed in perforated leather) and an “N” gear shifter.

“Our i30 N has been hugely successful since launch, showcasing our capabilities in high-performance engineering and emotionalising our brand with its fun-to-drive factor,” said Andreas-Christoph Hofmann, vice president for marketing and product at Hyundai Motor Europe.

“Now we are extending that feeling to a wider audience with the new i30 N Line. We believe the comprehensive package of design and engineering enhancements will continue to attract more new customers to the Hyundai brand in Europe.”

In Europe, the i30 N Line will be offered with the brand’s 103 kW 1,4-litre T-GDI petrol engine. Still no word on when the i30 is expected to arrive in South Africa...
