Well, this is an interesting one. CarWow has lined up the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 and Mercedes-AMG E63 S (here in estate form) for a drag race.

As a reminder, the XE SV Project 8 employs Jaguar Land Rover’s familiar 5,0-litre supercharged V8 petrol engine, here offering 441 kW/700 N.m and mated to a titanium variable active exhaust system, an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Jaguar claims the limited-edition model has a top speed of a smidgen over 320 km/h and a claimed 0-100 km/h time of 3,7 seconds.

And the E63 S? Well, Affalterbach's twin-turbo 4,0-litre V8 delivers 450 kW and 850 N.m to all four corners via a nine-speed automatic transmission. This results in a sprint from standstill to 100 km/h in a claimed 3,5 seconds (one-tenth slower than the E63 S sedan) and an electronically governed top speed of 300 km/h.

Watch the video above to see these two vehicles take part in a drag battle, a couple of races from a rolling start and a brake test…
