The BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo was removed from our local market July of last year as part of an ongoing model rationalisation after being listed for a year and a half. Three years since its official reveal, BMW has admitted that it is a product that only appeals to a select market.

Speaking to Autocar, brand design boss Adrian van Hooydonk admits that the 6 Series GT “appeals strongly in certain regions but doesn’t appeal at all in others,”. It’s seen notable success in China but in regions like the UK, Germany and Italy, it fails to compete with the 5 Series Touring.

The liftback model was recently facelifted, shortly after being culled in a number of international markets. Updates included the enlarged kidney grille, LED headlamps and slightly newer design cues.
