Earlier in 2018, Carlex Design revealed a couple of extreme body kits for the Mercedes-Benz X-Class. But now the Poland-based firm has released what it calls the X-Class Yachting Edition, which includes various bits and bobs from Maybach.

This latest body kit is fashioned from carbon-fibre and includes 15 separate elements, including a fresh front bumper, bonnet cover, rear bumper, roof spoiler, wheel arches and rear light frames. Carbon side-mirror caps and a carbon styling bar are also included.

In addition, the double-cab bakkie – which is finished in a mix of “porcelain white” and “chocolate brown” paint – pilfers its wheels and grille from none other than the Mercedes-Maybach S650 cabriolet. The load bay, meanwhile, is finished in teak.

Inside, Carlex Design says it implemented a “number of solutions” typically employed by Mercedes-Maybach, including using plenty of original Nappa Porzellan leather (currently used in Maybach models). In addition, the company has chucked in what it terms a “large amount” of Alcantara and exotic wood.

Other cabin highlights include leather-trimmed Recaro Sportster seats; a facia finished in leather and wood; a new steering wheel with wood inserts, laser-engraved motifs and yet more leather; and an Alcantara headliner.

Carlex Design says production of its X-Class Yachting Edition will be “limited”, with an approximate price of €105 000 (that’s almost R1,7-million, including the base vehicle itself), depending on the chosen X-Class derivative.
