Audi South Africa has quietly expanded its Q3 range with the addition of a new 2,0 TFSI powertrain featuring all-wheel drive.

When the second-generation Q3 touched down locally in August 2019, the line-up included just a single engine option: the 35 TFSI powertrain, comprising a turbocharged 1,4-litre, four-cylinder petrol unit delivering 110 kW and 250 N.m to the front axle via a six-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Now, however, the Ingolstadt-based firm's local division has added the 40 TFSI quattro option to the mix (with this powertrain also offered in the fresh-faced Q3 Sportback range).

Here, a turbocharged 2,0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine sends 132 kW and 320 N.m to all four corners via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, resulting in a sprint from zero to 100 km/h in a claimed 7,8 seconds and a top speed of 220 km/h.

The Q3 40 TFSI advanced quattro S tronic starts at R691 500, while opting for the S line kit takes the starting price to R705 500. Check out full range pricing below and more info on the coupé-style Q3 Sportback here.

Looking for even more power? Well, Audi SA says the new 294 kW RS Q3 and RS Q3 Sportback are scheduled to arrive in local dealerships in the first quarter of 2021.
