Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has revealed a “perfect” scale model of the Cullinan ... and it’ll cost you more than a real Audi A3 Sportback 30 TFSI.

According to the British firm, every detail of the full-sized Cullinan has been reproduced on the 1:8 scale replica with “absolute perfection”.

Each miniature Cullinan is crafted by hand to the client’s specification, from more than 1 000 individual components. This process, says Rolls-Royce, can take up to 450 hours, which is over half the time required to build a full-sized Cullinan.

The replica is hand-painted using Rolls-Royce colour-matched paint, then hand-polished. The coachline is applied using a fine brush, just as it is on the actual Cullinan, while clients have the choice of around 40 000 standard colours or the option to replicate their own personal “Bespoke” finish.

The fully functioning exterior lights are operated by a Cullinan-branded remote control, while under the bonnet you’ll find a “perfect likeness” of the twin-turbocharged 6,75-litre V12 engine.

Open the coach doors and you’ll notice the illuminated treadplates, leading to an interior featuring headrest embroidery, wood finishes, and even seat piping and stitching. The model comes set on a gloss-black base mounted on a plinth in a display case, the latter measuring almost a metre in length.

So, exactly how much does such a replica cost? Well, Rolls-Royce’s British website says the price is available “on request” but a little time on Google revealed pricing from dealers in the United States starts at $17 100 and runs through to $27 360 (excluding any “applicable installation fees and taxes”). At the current exchange rate, that puts the price between R303 000 and R485 000, the latter figure enough to buy you a full-size Audi A3 Sportback 30 TFSI. However, considering the scale model would still need to be shipped to South Africa, we'd expect an even higher local price...
