Opel has confirmed that it will not attend the upcoming 2018 Paris Motor Show in October, taking the total number of absentees (so far) to sixteen.

Speaking to Automotive News Europe, a spokesperson for Opel (and its sister brand, Vauxhall) said that the automaker would instead focus on its own events.

“We made the decision to put a stronger emphasis on our own events for the upcoming product launches,” the spokesperson told the publication, adding that Opel could return to motors shows “when it makes business and communications sense”.

Opel, which is owned by the PSA Group that also runs the Peugeot, Citroën and DS brands, skipped the Geneva International Motor Show earlier in 2018, too.

Automotive News Europe reported that Aston Martin, Bentley, Fiat, Ford, Jeep, Mazda, McLaren, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Rolls-Royce, Volkswagen and Volvo would also not be in attendance in Paris.

In addition, Lamborghini earlier confirmed that it would not be attending, while Infiniti and Subaru were also expected to the Paris Motor Show a miss.
