New footage of a disguised Mercedes-Benz bakkie mule undergoing some light testing has emerged online.

The spy footage shows the bakkie – a different mule to the one featured in the last slice of footage we posted, if the numberplates are anything to go by – being put through its paces at a testing facility.

It is seen being driven along an uneven section of road, bouncing from side to side. Of course, widely expected to be badged as the Mercedes-Benz GLT, the bakkie will be based on the latest Nissan Navara, although the German automaker insists that the final product will bear all the "characteristics and features" of a proper Mercedes-Benz.

Still, the chances of the Mercedes double-cab featuring a version of the range-topping Navara's fully independent multi-link rear suspension are high.

The new Mercedes bakkie is set to hit the market in the second half of 2017. Watch the mule in action below...
