Fresh footage of the upcoming Mercedes-Benz bakkie being tested in Germany has been posted online.

The new video shows the prototype double-cab – which is widely expected to be dubbed the GLT when it goes into production – driving on the streets of Stuttgart, not far from the automaker's headquarters.

As expected, the vehicle is still heavily disguised, although this time its front grille is completely blanked off, as are the foglamps (view previous spy footage here and here).

The Mercedes-badged pickup will, of course, share much of its underpinnings with the latest Nissan NP300 Navara. The German automaker has, however, insisted that the final product – due to be added to the range as early as the second half of 2017 – will bear all the "characteristics and features" of a proper Mercedes-Benz.
